California Kat’s Snjóflóð!

If you’re looking for a different way to look at last night’s episode, you might want to check out California Kat’s one-shot story, Snjóflóð!.

Chapter 9 of “The Real Me”

I know it is easy to forget that this site started out as my ground zero for my fanfiction given how much time I devote to spoiler stalking for True Blood, but every now and again, mostly when Hell (Michigan) freezes over, I do post a new chapter for a story.  And after a truly ridiculous amount of time between updates, the next chapter of The Real Me is up.  Here’s to the probably vain hope I can get another one up without a snowstorm in, oh, May or June…

The Real Me, Chapter 9: Chasing Threads

Eric and Sookie tribute video

AussieDollyFan did a great Eric and Sookie tribute video from season 4 clips featuring the Kelly Clarkson song, “Dark Side.” Not only is a great editing job, but I am blown away by the song’s lyrics:

There’s a place that i know
it’s not pretty there and few have ever gone
if i show it to you now
will it make you run away

Or will you stay
even if it hurts
even if i try to push you out
will you return?
and remind me who i really am
please remind me who i really am

Everybody’s got a dark side
do you love me?
can you love mine?
nobody’s a picture perfect
but we’re worth it
you know that we’re worth it
will you love me?
even with my dark side?

Like a diamond
from black dust
it’s hard to know
it can become
a few give up
so don’t give up on me
please remind me who i really am

Everybody’s got a dark side
do you love me?
can you love mine?
nobody’s a picture perfect
but we’re worth it
you know that we’re worth it
will you love me?
even with my dark side?

Don’t run away
don’t run away
just tell me that you will stay
promise me you will stay
don’t run away
don’t run away
just promise me you will stay
promise me you will stay

Will you love me? ohh

Everybody’s got a dark side
do you love me?
can you love mine?
nobody’s a picture perfect
but we’re worth it
you know that we’re worth it
will you love me?
even with my dark side?

I swear, I never heard this song before tonight, but this is a really wonderful — almost spookily dead-on! — fit to the theme of my Sooric fit, “The Real Me.”  Love, love, love!

Enjoy the video!

Misery!Guest poll closed!

I confess: I actually forgot about this because I had so many kind reviews (both pro and con) for my last chapter, but yet another unsigned bitter post tonight reminded me that I had not formally closed the Misery!Guest poll.  And we do have a winner for “representative post” that will remain up while the rest are deleted. It is…

9:53 p.m. I’m done reading this story. I ask you NOT to make Eric as Tara’s maker but you didn’t listen and just did what you wanted anyways. You’ve obviously do not care what your readers think, so I will not continue on with this story.

I do kind of like this one because I appreciate the irony that fanfiction is and always has been about a writer “just doing what [they] want” — or what else was the point?

And just a heads up if you read my stories on fanfiction.net: after yet another “attack review” that was (unsurprisingly) unsigned, I’ve decided to make my personal policy on ff.net reviews explicit.  You can write whatever you want to, positive or negative, and I’ll leave it up if you sign it.  But people who are too cowardly to take responsibility for their viewpoint and hide behind the “Guest” log-in just to attack will have their “review” removed.  I don’t see why I have to allow people to act like trolls when I’m doing this for fun.  Fanfiction writing doesn’t pay me enough to put up with that. ;-P

And, again, big shout out to those who, even if you disagree with something I do in a story express that disagreement like civil people.

The Misery!Guest negative review poll

402905_10200755532754462_895178067_nI like the idea of keeping only one of Misery!Guest’s flurry of negative reviews and trashing the rest.  But which one should I keep?  Rather than pick one, I though it would be fun to let you guys choose.  Poll is officially  open for a week, although I may choose one before then. OR just delete all of them because I think this person has clearly HAD their say.

(I feel like I’m channeling my inner Bitch!Pam here…)

Wow…

…and that is not a good “Wow.”  Someone just posted 13 individual unsigned negative reviews on the most recent chapter of “The Real Me,” I posted on ff.net in a matter of minutes.  Since I have unsigned reviews set to “moderate” and (actually can’t log into ff.net from work even if I wanted to to approve them) they didn’t post right away, which apparently annoyed said reviewer, so they just kept posting more…and more…and more… and I didn’t even see them until I got home from work.  Since I was accused of not allowing guest reviews to be seen, I approved all of them, so if you want to go see what a mentally unstable blitz attack looks like, have a peek.

But, serious question for Fanfiction.net veterans who have seen this kind of thing before.  I don’t actually mind a negative review so long as there is actual feedback telling me what they don’t like about the story in it, and a couple of negative reviews have been really helpful in pointing out where I needed to be clearer in what I said.  But these particular reviews don’t really offer anything — except that they do raise my review count.  Unfortunately, with a bunch of “You just suck” kind of reviews, I feel like it not fair to count them that way, but if I take them down, I’ll look like I was embarrassed by them.  And frankly, I’m not since I think they reflect more on the person who wrote them than on me.

Advice? Comments?

New chapter of “The Real Me”

Eventually to be put up on ff.net but honestly, too tired to do it tonight! This is the last chapter with Eric and Sookie apart, so YAY! Although I still expect some tarring and feathering when this is read.  But I really do have a reason to do what I’m doing here. It just won’t be obvious for a few more chapters, and it does NOT involve romantic angst. It actually has to do with an important plot point.  Enough teasing!
