2012 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 11,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 18 years to get that many views.

Spoilery fan picture?

A fan named AstridWeasley posted a picture of her encounter with Askars in an unidentified airport, presumably on his way back to the States after spending the holidays with his family.  So, it is just the lighting, or does what you can see of his hair under his hat look lighter than it has been recently? Or is just swept back more? I’m wondering if he had to have a frosting touch up before filming starts in January.

Happy Holidays!

MVB 2012

Thanks to everyone who follows my True Blood blog. I started this just to entertain myself and never expected to get more than a couple of visitors, so it’s been wonderful to get to know such a great group of people over the last several months.  Here’s to a great 2013  — especially the next season of True Blood!

If you click on the card, you’ll get the full effect.

Elle Netherlands interview with ASkars has the translation of Alexander Skarsgard’s interview from the January 2013 issue of Elle Netherlands.  Not a lot new here if you read a lot of Askars interviews, but they also have scans of all the pages.  And there was one little tidbit that I really enjoyed:

After all the action, horror and drama roles, we can hopefully see the more light-hearted side of the actor soon. Although he may well be a typical stoic Swede, his appearances in American talk shows have proven that he has a great sense of humor. Alexander laughs. “A comedy? I’d love to! After months in a bomb shelter, I’m ready for something lighter.” We would be, too.

I know Alex has been doing a lot of meaty acting roles the last few years, but I would love to see him in a comedy after such a lengthy run of solemn fare.

End paper illustration for “Dead Ever After” *spoilery*

Bookies know that Charlaine Harris has traditionally released a chapter of the upcoming Sookie Stackhouse book each December as a “Christmas gift” to the series’ fans.  This year, however, The Creator has opted not to do so — whether because she fears rioting or that it will just give too much away for the final book in the series, who knows? So I think most of us had resigned ourselves to no more clues until Dead Ever After is released in May, but a nice surprise on Charlaine’s site today!  They have posted the end paper illustration on the site. Check it out below:

My thoughts:  The emphasis seems to be on Sookie’s romantic history, with  former suitors (Sam, Quinn and Alcide) represented in their animal form, and Eric in human form.  As I was thinking about the meaning of all the other suitors being in their supernatural form, it occurs to me that the first suitor — Bill — is missing from the lineup, unless we assume he is represented by the bats.  It does seem significant that Eric is the only one in his human form.  While Sookie seems to be chasing Sam, since everyone is moving in the clockwise direction, I don’t know if that is meaningful.  I don’t think there is enough information to completely reassure my Sooric shipper heart, but I don’t see anything that alarms me, either.  Any thoughts, my astute reader friends?
